Bridgerton follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market. Hoping to follow in her parent’s footsteps and find a match sparked by true love, Daphne’s prospects initially seem to be unrivaled. But as her older brother begins to rule out her potential suitors, the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown casts aspersions on Daphne. Enter the highly desirable and rebellious Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), committed bachelor and the catch of the season for the debutantes’ mamas. Despite proclaiming that they want nothing the other has to offer, their attraction is undeniable and sparks fly as they find themselves engaged in an increasing battle of wits while navigating society’s expectations for their future.

Juliana M @Takeza 16h Unfortunately, the show has been delivering increasingly disappointing seasons. The story should be simple: a reinterpretation of Cinderella, but there are so many "unnecessary" characters (the Modrichs, Francesca's failed sex life) that the main couple's story becomes bland and takes a back seat. In addition, it seems that the contracts with the cast are not well done because as soon as a couple becomes the lead, they disappear in the following seasons, giving a feeling of "emptiness" that should not exist in the Bridgerton family. I love how Sophie can tap into Benedict’s perspective of things. Sophie also brings so much strength, romance, and self awareness. There’s a lot that women can learn from her character. I love that they slowly build the romance up alongside other characters’ stories. I can understand that others would want FOCUS on to the main leads, but its the ANTICIPATION and SUSPENSE of whats to unfold for the main leads is what I truly appreciate in this season.
