Wolfinsohn fashions a movie of uncommon feeling and authenticity that, despite its minuscule budget and lack of MTV-friendly faces, could generate a word of mouth cult following. Go to Full Review Aaron Hillis GreenCine Nov 17, 2009

Naturalistic, semi-improvised series of awkward comic vignettes ... nails the liberating/frightening social moments of post-pubescence in all their riches of embarrassments. Go to Full Review Eric Campos Film Threat Apr 9, 2005

High School Record has a lot of good intentions, but you'll be better off leaving your uncomfortable teen years in the past rather than trying to revisit them here. Go to Full Review Erik Childress eFilmCritic.com Apr 7, 2005

None of the actors are strong enough to adapt to the improvisation clearly on display and that leaves us wondering if they are behaving naturally or are just bad actors. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Apr 6, 2005 "High School Record" was the best movie I saw at the festival and I'm definately going to try to find it on DVD. There's a scene of two guys trying to explain the anatomy of a vagina to each other on a black-board that's one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a movie. Even the uptight, disapproving, born-again-looking lady next to me cracked up. It might not be fair of me to rate "Executioner" or "Max and Grace" (rated "2" in an earlier post) since they were the two movies I walked out of, but, eh, fuck it. If you're a big fan of movies that start out shitty, pretentious and insulting, but then possibly get better toward the end, these two movies could be for you. I watched "Finding Neverland" on video the other day. It was good, a nice, quiet little movie with some nice performances. I'd recommend it to anyone. See more Read all reviews
