Georgan G @RT98616417 Sep 18, 2024 Fantasy is not my favorite genre, and this plot is downright silly. Some of the song & dance numbers are okay, but just not enough there, there. See more ashley h @ashleyhobgood87 Aug 23, 2020 Down to Earth is an okay film. It is about a new broadway musical that makes a mockery of Greek mythology. Rita Hayworth and Larry Parks give decent performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Alexander Hall did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the humor and music. See more May 20, 2020 "I adore musicals, I'm so tired of thinking!" Down to Earth is a sequel to the superior "Here Comes Mr. Jordan", but here Hall doesn't have a play to adapt the script from, and it suffers for it (as well as for its disregard for greek mythology). Rita Hayworth is well-cast as Terpsichore, Muse of song and dance, and she elevates the film beyond something that would be otherwise forgettable. Unfortunately the songs just aren't any good, and the only dance number that's any fun to watch is Hayworth's audition when she invites herself into the chorus line. See more Sep 22, 2016 I got this in a cheapo 5-film 'Rita Hayworth' boxed set, as I quite enjoy checking out the filmographies, as completely as I can, some of my favourite actors, actresses and directors from days gone by (pre-1970s cinema is clearly my favourite, though I enjoy cinema from all eras and around the world). This was an interesting though flawed comedy, with Hayworth playing a Greek goddess, pissed off that a playwright isn't doing Greek mythology justice--and pays an unexpected visit clear on settling the score. Her singing numbers are dubbed, but she looks remarkable. The film is a tad long in the tooth but is nevertheless quite enjoyable.
