Woyzeck (Lajos Kovács) is a miserable railway flagman living in Budapest. In order to support his common-law wife Mari (Diana Vacaru), Woyzeck is obliged to become the subject of a series of strange experiments by a local doctor (Péter Haumann). While the experiments begin to shake Woyzeck's already tenuous grasp on reality, his world truly begins to fall apart when Mari embarks upon an affair with a local police officer (Aleksandr Porokhovshchikov).
