Counselingover C @Counselingovercoffee76 Oct 7, 2026 The tragedy of criticizing a movie without understanding what it is actually saying is that you can totally miss the point. Too many critics dismissed this movie as a kids movie about imaginary friends and a busy father juggling work and family. I think they missed something much deeper. This is a movie for adults who have children, and those who someday want them. As a parent, I’ve learned the hard way that we often expect our children to enter our world before we’re willing to enter theirs. We want them to see things our way, understand our priorities, and do what we ask. One of my graduate counseling professors once said, "If you want someone to do something, you do it first." That lesson is at the heart of "Imagine That". If I want my kid to understand my world, I first have to be willing to enter theirs. If I want them to listen to me, I have to listen to them first. Parenting isn’t always about bringing children into our world. Sometimes, we have to step into theirs first. Love seeing Eddie Murphy playing roles where he plays a doting father. Martin Sheen is pretty much good in any movie he's in. In the beginning of the film there's a sound of a screeching cat. The screeching cat thing in movies is so cliche & overdone. And never funny. Interesting fact Eddie Murphy was not actually fond of the film. He expressed that the movie didn't have a chance at the box office. His description of the movie was just him & a little girl with a blanket. He did however humerously admit he would play it on TV if he wants to cry. In the movie he plays the financial advisor who has a daughter with an overactive imagination. At first he is dismissive of her until he realizes his daughter with the help of her imaginary Friends can see into the future. The movie imagine that it's definitely highly imaginative. Able to bring out the kid in all of us See more Cvera T @RT87409037 Jun 16, 2026 Im so shocked at these ratings, this was my favorite movie when it came out I literally watched it repeatedly.
