In 2028, OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. While its drones have long been used by the military overseas, their use is forbidden in American law enforcement. However, OmniCorp gets a golden opportunity to crack that market when Detroit cop Alex Murphy is critically injured in the line of duty. By transforming Murphy into a cyborg, OmniCorp executives hope to rake in billions for their shareholders, but they forget one thing: There's still a man inside the machine.

Critics Consensus

While it's far better than it could have been, José Padilha's RoboCop remake fails to offer a significant improvement over the original.

[A]fter an opening sequence as promising as the one here, it needs at least an attempted follow-through, not the jumble of confused ideas and time-wasting effects that take up the bulk of the film.

Surveying the peculiar array of 1980s retreads clustered into release this week, I'm reminded of Marty McFly in Back to the Future Part II, traveling forward in time 30 years to discover that everything is still the same, only worse.

The Brazilian director José Padilha may be working for a Hollywood studio but he doesn't temper his critique of American imperialism, big business and political corruption.

There are two ways to approach the 2014 RoboCop, which I wouldn’t buy for a dollar even on 4K.

What could have been a depressing assault on the childhood of those who grew up in the 1980s was instead one of the best action-sci-fi movies since Minority Report over a decade earlier.

How this movie made me feel in one word: Uninspired. Day 2 of my unintentional robot marathon. This movie had so much potential and it was sadly wasted. To have a robot or cyborg as the lead character, there needs to be a reason why we're rooting for (or against) them. In this case, Alex's family needed to be the driving force. Unfortunately, one quick scene at his house before the accident isn't going to cut it. When his son tells him that he filmed all the Red Wings games and was waiting for him to watch them, I finally felt something. That being said, I would have felt even more if the connection between them was already explored. I didn't hate the film, but it was seriously underdeveloped. Best Character: Dennett Best Quote: "Dead or alive, you're coming with me." - Alex Best Scene: Solving his own murder Best Piece of Score: "Omnicorp"

I just watched *RoboCop (2014)*, and I actually enjoyed it. The action is great, the visuals are impressive, and the story keeps you interested. It's not as iconic as the original, but it's a solid sci-fi movie with a good mix of action and emotion.

Damn! This was bad, like in really really bad. A hot mess more. It was a cheap knock off trie to relounge the the RoboCop franchise. Wich it soul is allready sold! Nothing works to be honest and the design of RoboCop was horrible. Don't get me wrong I had great watching this movies. But the first one was a great movie. After that it went down hard!
