After the ordeal he suffered with his now former girlfriend's (Essence Atkins) demonic possession, Malcolm (Marlon Wayans) has decided to start fresh. He has a new girlfriend named Megan (Jaime Pressly), and they and Megan's children are moving into their dream home. Soon afterward, Malcolm is once again plagued by supernatural shenanigans -- only this time, it's not just the house that's haunted. A demon has attached itself to Malcolm, and shows no signs of letting go.

Critics Consensus

Sloppy, vulgar, and manic, A Haunted House 2 might be worth a chuckle or two, but mostly it's a string of pop culture references and crude gags that fail to hit their intended targets.

A few observational gags deliver, but all the doll-humping and chicken-slaughtering will haunt you for days. Go to Full Review

Though he's not for all tastes, there's something admirable about Wayans's willingness to do anything for a laugh, often reminiscent of Jerry Lewis at his most frantic. Go to Full Review

The movie feels relentlessly overwrought and never quite knows how to deliver its outrageous shtick in broad doses. Otherwise, A Haunted House 2 is a fetid foundation that begs to be condemned. Go to Full Review

Blake- N @PBSAniDom 1d A Haunted House 2 (2014) is one of those comedy sequels that feels like it ran out of ideas almost immediately and just started recycling the same jokes over and over again. Instead of improving on the first film or taking the parody concept in a fresh direction, it doubles down on lazy, juvenile humor that rarely lands. The film relies heavily on shock gags and random skits rather than anything resembling a coherent story or consistent comedic rhythm. What little plot there is feels like an afterthought, just a loose excuse to string together unrelated scenes. Even the parody elements feel outdated and uninspired, with very few jokes that actually work. By the halfway point, the repetition becomes exhausting rather than funny, and it’s hard to stay engaged at all. Overall, it’s a frustrating viewing experience that wastes its premise completely. A clear -2/10.
