Some of the more interesting Bhansali tropes add to the film's impact and appeal. But it's the trajectory and transformation of the two women that is worth noting. Go to Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Jan 4, 2018

The grandiosity wears off. You long for a genuinely moving, exciting story, featuring all these beautiful people, all actors able to pull off characters, but buried under their mounds of clothes, mouthing dialogue. Go to Full Review Anupama Chopra Hindustan Times Aug 16, 2016

The film feels overly ceremonious, purposefully epic and, in places, a little exhausting. But hang in there. Because slowly and skillfully, Bajirao Mastani transports you. Go to Full Review Pradeep Menon Firstpost Oct 17, 2023
You know a director is worth his or her title when, largely, their later work is their better work. If Ram-Leela was visceral, this one was quite simply ferocious. Go to Full Review Anna M.M. Vetticad Firstpost May 9, 2019

Sara J @RT65678728 Sep 8, 2026 Nice aesthetics but the ending confused me See more Priyanka O @Velora Jun 24, 2026 Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani is a stunning, operatic historical epic. Ranveer Singh delivers a career best performance as the fierce Peshwa while Deepika Padukone exudes grace and Priyanka Chopra shines with heartbreaking dignity. Though heavily dramatized and long, its visual opulence and brilliant music make it a masterpiece. See more Vannesa D @VannesaD123 Jun 1, 2026 Bajirao Mastani is a visually stunning historical romance with grand sets, powerful performances and unforgettable music. Ranveer Singh shines as Bajirao, while Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra deliver emotional depth. The film beautifully blends love, sacrifice and conflict, making it an epic cinematic experience. I just love the movie. See more Likith C @Likith Jan 9, 2026 Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani is not just a period romance—it is an emotional battlefield where three powerful hearts collide. Ranveer as Bajirao delivers a career-defining performance, capturing Bajirao’s fearless command and inner fracture with breathtaking intensity. Mastani is devotion with a warrior’s spine. She loves without conditions, without fear, without apology. Her pain is quiet, her resolve unshakable. Kashibai is the soul of sacrifice. If Mastani is love, Kashibai is loyalty. Priyanka delivers a performance portraying a woman who loves her husband completely yet is forced to watch him give his heart to another chance. Bajirao is torn between duty and desire. Each character carries their pain with grace, making their tragedy all the more powerful. Bhansali frames their emotions with operatic beauty—soaring music, grand sets, and poetic visuals—but it is the performances that give the spectacle its soul. See more Faizi K @RT14754227 Dec 24, 2025 Sanjay Leela Bhansali knows how to nail period dramas, and Ranveer Singh knows how to give a smashing performance each time he has collaborated with him. See more Jennie K @Tan1208 May 13, 2025 The cinematography was amazing, the costuming was gorgeous and the music just atmospheric. Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh really shined.
