Six blind Tibetan teenagers, shunned by their culture as sinners or possessed by demons, band together to climb the north side of Mount Everest. With the inspiration of their fiery, blind teacher who fought to establish a Tibetan school for blind children, the teens are guided by Erik Weihenmayer, the only blind mountaineer to have successfully scaled Everest. The climbers suffer through illness, bad weather, and the stark challenge of tackling one of the greatest natural wonders on the planet.

You wouldn't believe it as fiction but it really is fairly unadorned fact. It is easy to see awards beckoning, and deservedly so because Walker as a film-maker never puts herself in front of her extraordinary subjects. Go to Full Review Anthony Quinn Independent (UK) Aug 8, 2008

How they managed the trek defies belief, but in an art-form where superpowers have become passé, it's a stirring reminder of what human powers, against the odds, can achieve. Go to Full Review Nigel Andrews Financial Times Aug 8, 2008
Lucy Walker's documentary Blindsight is breathtaking twice over. It leaves the audience gasping like a landed guppy at views of snow-coddled Himalayan peaks under ice-blue skies. Go to Full Review John A. Nesbit Old School Reviews Apr 25, 2009

Yes, it's literally the blind leading the blind in this ironically eye-opening doc that from the outset sounds like an un-PC South Park episode but is in fact inspirational. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

May 15, 2014 the best was the kid describing the flight... See more Jul 26, 2013 1) Doing what they did makes more sense than doing anything else. 2) Every, even the most beautiful, religion has its awful sins. See more May 2, 2013 The film is just sad through and through. The poor kids get manipulated into climbing a mountain when they clearly are not physically able to do so and their so called guardians are so taken with the notion of taking blind kids up a mountain that they forget to look after their well being. Very very very sad. See more Mar 8, 2013 Heart warming and compassion building. I am a wimp compared to these blind people! See more Dec 12, 2012 The things Sabrina and Erik were doing just humbled me so much. Here are 2 individuals who made a difference to others' lives without even crediting themselves so I'm deeply shameful with the lil pride I have in times when I "feel" I have done good for others.
