Filmmaker Jake Rademacher embeds himself with four combat units, as he documents his brothers' experiences as soldiers in Iraq. Rademacher witnesses secret reconnaissance missions on the Syrian border, sniper "hide sites" in the Sunni Triangle and fierce gun battles with the Iraqi Army. After Rademacher follows his brothers home to the U.S., he records the ripple effect their life-threatening work has had on friends and family.

Rademacher's vigorous commitment to making the documentary, as well as to his large, close-knit family, deserves respect.

Brothers at War would be interesting enough if it merely observed soldiers in their element as they chill behind friendly lines, but this documentary, which begins at a low key, gradually becomes intense and psychologically complicated.

Insights shared by those left behind sharpen the focus on the sacrifices made by those who go off to war -- a message that might have been clearer were the film not so self-serving.

A nicely done piece for such a personal story: harrowing, heroic, and occasionally gripping.

its an interesting view from the inside about soldiers and their families. It's the real thing, with all the bad and good.

Great documentary that gives you frontline action and short sojourns home by the soldiers. Each group the director goes out to recon with has a stand-out character all their own. The line between civilian life and being on the front line is a chasm some cannot cross. Well done for its ability to stay politically neutral, for the most part, and actual combat footage the director expereinced.

Good documentary that takes you into combat in Iraq and the battle that is fought on the home front. It is worth a look.

This is a documentary about a filmmaker who does two embeds in Iraq in an attempt to be closer to his two brothers (who have both done tours there in the US Army). The first half is a bit slow, but it successfully sets up the powerful and moving second half.
