Whatever you make of Alone Together as a portrait, as a document of the early 2020s, it’s authentic enough. The main question is whether you find it depressing or empowering to watch a pop star slogging away wearily just like anybody else. Go to Full Review Phil Hoad Guardian Apr 13, 2022

The documentary's sugar rush display of healthy fandom is a rarity, giving the film legs outside its pandemic novelty. Go to Full Review Daniel Allen Loud and Clear Reviews Jul 25, 2024

There is power in creating something that reflects the tough times we are living in, and there is even more power in coming together and celebrating it. Charli XCX: Alone Together demonstrates both in compelling detail. Go to Full Review Peter Gray The AU Review Jun 3, 2022

Unlikely as it is that Alone Together will prove massively appealing to audiences outside of Charli XCX, her infectious personality and relatability, however, mean it’s incredibly easy to see why she has amassed as many adoring fans as she has. I think she’s arguably the best pop artist working today. So it makes a lot of sense that I enjoyed this. The film works best when it gets into the creative process of her album How I’m Feeling Now. I loved the album, so it was interesting seeing how it was made. I also liked how the film explored her relationship with her fans. I do have some issues. At only 67 minutes the film does feel rushed. I would’ve liked to see more details about the album creation and more songs than the film shows. Overall, I liked this. While I do think you’ll enjoy it more as a fan I still think it’s worth watching even if you don’t know anything about her. It’s a quick watch but it works pretty well.
