Brian C Feb 18, 2026 So rad to see my favorite horror movie ever on the big screen! See more Stephen Oct 28, 2025 It was great to see this film back on the big screen after 43 years (a 40th Anniversary screening was a missed opportunity!). The third of Stephen King's very hit or miss theatrical film adaptions. As the original tagline boasts "...the most fun you'll have being scared...". Great practical special effects, lots of well-placed jump scares, a cast (including a pre-"Cheers" Ted Danson and very young Ed Harris) - and the late Leslie Nielsen at his unhinged best! Plus, cameos by director George A. Romero's stable, including John Amplas (who portrayed the title character from GAR's "Martin" a reanimated corpse here) and Christine Forrest (GAR's wife) as well as an uncredited Ned Beatty during a phone conversation during the last segment - among several others. With Stephen King and George A, Romero at the helm, this is what a horror anthology should be...the (inevitable) sequels and others of this genre - "Trick 'R Treat" comes to mind - all pale by comparison to this 1982 classic. It's Halloween time...watch this - but not alone! See more Kia B Oct 15, 2025 As creepy as ever! Perfect! See more Alex B @AlexBioni 16 hrs ago I Want My Cake This is such a great movie. I discovered it in middle school during my Stephen King kick. King wrote this anthology, directed by the great George Romero. The practical effects are awesome, especially the beast from the crate. I love the comic book tone and page transitions between stories. The acting is great, especially Leslie Nielsen and Hal Holbrook. It's classic goofy B movie horror, and I watch it every October. The colorful lighting, production design, and dark humor all add to the charm. Every story feels unique. Whenever I see high tide at the beach, I think of "Something to Tide You Over." It's not a masterpiece, but I honestly can't think of much I dislike. Maybe it's dated, but that's part of the charm. The final story is the weakest, even if the real bugs are disgusting. If you're a King fan, Romero fan, or horror fan, this is essential viewing. See more Teddy B @RT90521672 4 days ago A fine parade of EC Comics freaks, if a bit uninteresting at times. The main problem is in Romero's direction: he is campy, and sometimes ridiculous, but there is just something in the way that he stages his shots and handles the non-horror elements that just screams listlessness and slapdash impatience. King's writing is strong, and he has a firm grip on his source's neck, complete with tacked-on morals and gleeful exaggeration. It's just Romero who needs to think a little crazier. 'Creepshow' would be masterful if all parts of it embraced its wonderfully ridiculous inspiration: consistently energised, over-the-top, and entirely inventive rather than just frequently. See more Troy A @RT12146315 Jul 6, 2026 Anthologies are usually only as good as their weakest story. This one at least starts with its worst stories, so you can come in halfway and not really miss anything. I'd give "Father's Day" a 0/5, "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" a 1/5, "Something to Tide you Over" a 3/5, "The Crate" 3.5/5 and "They're Creeping up on You" a 4/5. See more Read all reviews
