Critics Consensus

The D Train offers Jack Black a too-rare opportunity to showcase his range, but its story and characters are too sloppily conceived to hold together as a film.

There may be an interesting idea lurking in here somewhere, but any subversiveness is lost amid cod-indie gurning and comic bum notes. Go to Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times Sep 18, 2015

The central figure in The D Train (the title refers to the unearned nicknames that he constantly tries to award himself), Dan [as played by Jack Black] is a tragic monster. Go to Full Review Matt Oakes Silver Screen Riot 1 day ago

When it finally comes to a halt, 'The D Train' arrives in the station a thinly veiled assault allegory poorly masquerading as a comedy; a stupid and ugly mess that doesn't have the balls to own up to what it actually is and what it's trying to say. thiago S @Thiagostone Jun 16, 2026 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Jordan S. @jswez Feb 28, 2026 Wouldn’t have started watching this if I knew where it was headed. Also, tried leaving many other descriptors, but Rotten veggies loves to censor. See more Marisa A @RT54481678 Jun 4, 2025 OMG. See more Shaun K @RT01847645 May 20, 2023 I don't understand all the hate. This movie was funny as shit. See more Sep 13, 2022 This is a hidden gem. Jack Black is challenged in a difficult character and he nails it perfectly. Great movie See more Sep 11, 2021 Definitely one of my favorite Jack Black movies to date. If you're a huge JB fan like myself, than this movie and "Bernie" or two secret gems that will make it to the top of your Jack Black favorite movies list. Also really crazy to think that he didn't mind the scripts decision of letting another man give him anal sex. JB is awesome! See more Read all reviews
