Now that I'm a parent, I understand it better. A father who starts a fathers' school to care for children and teach them like in a real school is something that really touched me. It's very interesting; I highly recommend this movie. See more Melissa M @Lisey Jun 21 Actor Eddie Murphy usually plays fast talking, hyperactive, Wise guys. But in this film he plays a doting dad. Always fun to see an actor play something outside of their wheelhouse. In Film he plays Charlie an advertising executive that has to come up with a clever campaign for a product called veggie O's. Like most people feel about broccoli higher ups feels about veggie O's. As the story progresses Charlie becomes a stay-at-home dad. Kim becomes a working mom. they are both trying to get there son Ben into the Chapman academy. However the academy like Gwyneth Harridan the headmaster is pretentious & hoity toity. As the story progresses Charlie who has become Mr Mom & Buddies decide to open a Daddy Day Care. The risky venture proposes many challenges skeptical moms, Dan Kubitz the neurotic but well meaning guy from child services, over-excited kids. Their biggest challenge however is Hoity Harridan. See more Blake- N @PBSAniDom May 1 Daddy Day Care is one of those early 2000s comedies that tries to be wholesome and funny but ends up feeling more cringy than charming for me. The idea has potential, and there are a few light moments that work, mostly thanks to the cast trying their best with the material. However, a lot of the humor feels overly exaggerated or forced, and it leans heavily into predictable gags that don’t always land. It also has that very broad, loud style of comedy that can be hit or miss, and for me it misses more often than not. Some scenes feel like they drag on longer than they need to, which makes the overall experience less enjoyable. In the end, Daddy Day Care is watchable but very dated in its humor and execution.
