Nat Banyon (Lucas Black), a drifter en route to Wyoming, rescues Herman Finch (Peter Coyote) at the scene of a car accident. Grateful for his assistance, Finch offers Nat a job and free room and board at his hotel. There, Nat meets Finch's beautiful wife, Iris (Mía Maestro), and learns that his new boss is the ringleader of a local crime syndicate. Fearful that he too will fall prey to Finch's criminal machinations, Nat hatches a plan to run off with Iris.
