In need of a new kidney and having learned that he has a long-lost daughter, dimwit Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) snaps his equally cretinous pal, Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey), out of an apparent fugue state to accompany him on a journey to find her. The witless wonders crisscross the country using whatever mode of transportation they can find, ultimately arriving at the one place on Earth where they least belong: a summit of the world's most brilliant minds.

Critics Consensus

Dumb and Dumber To does have its moments, but not enough of them -- and the Farrelly brothers' brand of humor is nowhere near as refreshingly transgressive as it once seemed.

The gags run the gamut from the inspired to the amusingly corny -- and are hung on one of the Farrellys' patented convoluted plots.

The Farrellys, who once had a genuinely anarchic edge, demonstrate a fatal lack of timing - missing the film's comic beat by around 20 years.

The occasional uproarious moment is small reward for the long scenes we're forced to endure of Carrey and Daniels gurning and grinning as if they are fresh out of bedlam.

Dumb though it may be, and offensively stuffed with toilet humor, there's enough wit, more than enough commitment on the part of the actors and just enough new one-liners to give the Farrellys, and Jim Carrey's comedy career, a new lease on life.

It tried to get back the original fun vibe again. But in some parts it is funny. I am just happy to see Jim Carrey in that role again. It is fun. But overall it is a fun one-time watchable movie.

Dumb and Dumber To (2014) reunites Harry and Lloyd two decades after the original, joining the wave of long-awaited comedy sequels. While it recaptures flashes of the original's slapstick charm, not every joke lands with the same impact it might have in the 1990s. The story sends the lovable idiots on another ridiculous adventure, this time in search of a kidney donor and the chemistry between Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels is still the film's greatest strength. Despite some uneven humor, it delivers enough laughs to justify the reunion, and the ending genuinely caught me by surprise. It doesn't reach the heights of the original, but it's a fun one-time revisit with two of comedy's most memorable characters. Worth watching once, even if I probably wouldn't return to it.

Many people complain that it lacks humour or don't have good good story. BUT I LOVED IT! Excellent story, excellent humour, lack of boring sad part, twists and excellent unexpected turns. This is my favourite movie and would like a sequel to this sequel.

This isn’t a masterpiece or anything I just think it’s underrated
