Ruby C @RT50246600 Apr 22, 2025 Easter Replacements was such a fun watch. Easter was yesterday and I am so glad I watched this film today. The animated bunnies are such an endearing touch that set the tone for this holiday dinner centered film. I definitely recommend as it shares fun, dramatic, and heartfelt moments about the dynamics between different relationships. The unforeseen circumstances will keep you wanting more. The characters have great chemistry and the film is well written. This film was a sweet simple positive story with a positive message about life, relationships, and self-worth. My personal relationship was God is my higher power is very personal to me, and I am glad this faith-based movie didn't shove God down anybody's throat. Yet it was present alive and well for all to enjoy. The writing was sweet and believable. Limited location films are extremely hard to shoot, hard to stay interesting and have a special talent which also separates this film from many in its genre. Writer /Producer Director Travis Grenke was masterful at making it all work by capturing believable heartfelt characters. Also, the acting was particularly good. Give this holiday movie a shot. You won't be disappointed. See more Andrew W @awpictures Mar 22, 2025 The Easter Replacements is a situational comedy all taking place in one house across an afternoon directed by accomplished actor Travis Grenke making his directorial debut. Everyman Billy (Monte James) and his wife Bobbi (Anasia Obioha) who seemed to have a troubled relationship are holding an Easter dinner at his home and has invited his boss in hopes of securing a promotion at the bank he's worked at for ten years. When his boss cancels at the last-minute Billy has to entertain four complete strangers instead each bringing their own tensions prejudices insecurities and ulterior motives. I saw in another review it reminded them of Larry Davids "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and I totally agree with the sentiment as well. Realistic interactions natural performances absurd situations and hilariously quotable dialogue. A recipe for a great film! The films comic tone also made me think of Roman Polanskis “Carnage” Monte James skilfully carries the entire film well as Billy as a well-meaning man under pressure trying to please everyone at the expense of his own happiness. See more Pat H @RT20636062 Feb 19, 2025 Sometimes it's worth taking a punt of something low-key that you might not have heard of. Easter Replacements is a quirky little gem, bringing warmth, heart and humour to the Easter dinner table. Monte James and Anasia Obioha are Billy and Bobby, a couple with a slightly malfunctioning power dynamic who intend to host Easter dinner for two other couples. When those other couples back out, but Billy’s determination to be a welcoming host means that they end up entertaining two replacement couples instead. This is a film bursting with independent spirit and warmth, with a real undercurrent of affection for, and empathy towards, the characters no matter how unusual the situation may get. The production values are top notch, which really helps to keep the environment feeling snug rather than stifling (the majority of the action takes place in the same location). It’s a quirky look at human relationships with a bunch of charming performances at the heart of it, with a heartwarming and well-crafted story serving to give every viewer a very pleasant Easter dinner indeed. A quick shout-out for the charming animations that book-end the movie as well. See more Bill C @RT45130060 Feb 18, 2025 Easter Replacements is a charming indie drama that blends sharp wit, heartfelt moments, and insightful social commentary. When a married couple hosts Easter dinner, unexpected guests bring cultural clashes, secret agendas, and plenty of tension. Monte James and Anasia Obioha shine as Billy and Bobby, navigating believable chemistry and compelling conflicts. Writer/director Travis Grenke’s strong script and nuanced storytelling keep the film engaging, while its light faith-based elements feel natural. A well-acted, thought-provoking indie with humor and heart—perfect for a family-friendly Easter watch. Really reminded me of holidays with my family! No worries, though, it won't cause any sort of post-traumatic stress disorder for anyone still recovering from their own family holiday dinners! Plenty of great and witty banter between an eclectic group of holiday guests. Not to mention a great plot twist you probably won’t see coming. Great writing and direction from Travis Grenke. Anasia Obioha, as Bobby, delivers a standout performance. This one is fun for the whole family. See more Read all reviews
