Based on the online phenomenon of the same name, ELEVATOR GAME follows socially awkward teenager Ryan, who ingratiates himself into a group of recent high school graduates that run an online web series debunking urban legends. But Ryan has a secret: his sister disappeared months earlier, and he believes they -- and a dangerous online challenge called 'The Elevator Game' -- were responsible. To play the game, you must ride the elevator in a specific sequence, invoking a supernatural creature called 'The 5th Floor Woman'. In an attempt to gain more information as to the whereabouts of his sister, Ryan persuades the group to play the game once more, and risk unleashing the most fearsome consequences imaginable.

It's a flicking of the switch that transitions Elevator Game from a fun comedy-horror for its first half into a ghoulish chiller for its closing act. Go to Full Review Anya Couture Geek Vibes Nation Aug 9, 2025

What McKendry does for Seppala’s story is what you’d prefer out of a director; she manages to extract something memorable and attractive about something so simple as its premise to become, in a way, somewhat elevated above its surface value. Elevator Game is haunted and hindered by strained and unnatural dialogue, and despite its relatively brisk running time of just over 90 minutes, the film suffers from lethargic pacing. Go to Full Review Daniel Rester Willamette Week Oct 5, 2023

Though the film suffers from an excess of harsh humor, the story of college students riding up and down in an elevator turns out to be surprisingly fun Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Melissa L @Agent99 Oct 4, 2026 I had seen a similar movie in the past, but it was before they had social media and live streaming. It wasn't as scary as the other movie would be. I only gave this three stars because it wasn't an original idea. See more Georgia P @RT70958088 Sep 20, 2026 Pretty mediocre acting from obvious film students. The scary scenes were very good for budget, but the time spent in an actual elevator with nothing happening was wasted See more Ricardo D @RT43154676 Jul 21, 2026 The script isn't original; it draws on other movies, series, and internet themes. The acting is quite weak—reminiscent of early-career film students. There are no real redeeming qualities to the film, perhaps aside from the occasional line of dialogue. The ending is predictable, but since the characters aren't engaging, it didn't really matter. See more Kayla M @Runitbaxk Jun 24, 2026 Don’t waste your time, awful plot and the acting is hard to watch. See more Jk D @Jk11076 Feb 28, 2026 Why did they give Chloe such bad hair? The movie wasn’t great but that hair was a crime. See more Nicolas M @RT52450057 Aug 14, 2025 Good pitch, but poor execution. See more Read all reviews
