How far are you willing to go to win at Fantasy Football? This is the unusual question faced by a sharp-witted and sarcastic judge (Caterina Guzzanti) as she interrogates Simone (Giacomo Ferrara), a carefree thirty-something, more of a free-spirited screenwriter than a professional one, and an unlikely suspect in the mysterious disappearance of Gianni (Enrico Borello). Gianni isn't just his best friend; he's also the reigning champion of the Fantasy Football League "Mai una gioia", a group that has brought together a bunch of long-time, and rather absurd, friends for years. But on the day of his wedding -- and the final, decisive day of the league -- Gianni never showed up at the altar. Even stranger, he didn't submit his lineup. The surreal investigation draws in the entire crazy crew, including Andrea (Silvia D'Amico), the most recent addition to the group, who might be hiding more than one secret. From the group chat, chaos ensues: insults, accusations, incriminating screenshots... and a suspicious number of death threats. Is it possible someone really did harm Gianni? Because, sometimes, Fantasy Football isn't just a game. It's a matter of life, bonus points... and revenge.

For fantasy sports fans and viewers who don’t get too bent out of shape over (perceived) abundant creative laziness, Fantasy Football Ruined Our Lives is worth catching at some point. For everyone else, consider this one an L.

The movie is openly trying to copy The Hangover, but none of it works.

Fantasy Football Ruined Our Lives boasts plenty of potential in its core concept, but its wishy-washy execution only leaves us with the vague notion that we might’ve just watched an almost-funny movie.

Fantasy Football Ruined Our Lives doesn’t really dig deep into the characters to make them or the friendship they shared memorable.

This film steals about half of its ideas from the Hangover movies, and the other half from the old sitcom The League.
