Laxe delivers a surreal, breathtaking opener, and shines a light on the interior struggles of a troubled loner. Go to Full Review Ignatiy Vishnevetsky AV Club Dec 14, 2020

Quiet, slow-moving, ambiguous character studies might be a dime a dozen on the festival circuit, but there are few that remind us that there are things out there that still feel as big as myth. Go to Full Review Carlos Aguilar Los Angeles Times Nov 7, 2020
"Fire Will Come" is a pithy and devastating masterstroke from an auteur astute in his calibration of subdued emotional impact. Its discourse on forgiveness simmers in one's mind inextinguishably. Go to Full Review Vadim Rizov Filmmaker Magazine Dec 2, 2022
Laxe is one of the most curious filmmakers working right now, and the fact that he hasn’t settled into one storytelling mode yet keeps me curious as to what’s next. Go to Full Review Carlos Bonfil La Jornada Nov 17, 2022
The plot is minimal and would only take a couple of lines to describe, but Olivier Laxe's film is about the lack of human communication due to discretion, distrust, and silence. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia Oct 19, 2022

Unfortunately, it has little emotional force and the characters function as simple figures of clay that are burned over a slow fire only to add some depth to a text as inane as it is pretentious. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Isa B @RT32418990 Nov 3, 2024 The story lacks depth. The title tells you what to expect and nothing else really happens. The nature shots are beautiful, but that was really all this film had to offer. It had potential, but unfortunately it badly suffers from underdevelopment. I do NOT recommend. 55/100 See more dave d @RT34924333 Sep 2, 2021 Overall a frustrating experience with no resolution, 'Fire will come' could be watched with the sound down if not for the beauty of this film both to the eyes and the rarely spoken word. There's a lovely nature to the Galician language and the movie undoubtedly flows. The duo of Amador Arias and Benedicta Sanchez are both in their first film. They are lovely as a son and daughter and have a wonderful chemistry. If you understand going in, there's a chance you're going to be annoyed going out then you'll enjoy this for what it is: Ambiguous!
