From the Hip finds Judd Nelson flexing previously unseen acting muscles, but this legal comedy is too grating to pass the bar.

It's a fairly good film of fits and starts. Go to Full Review Joe Pollack St. Louis Post-Dispatch Sep 25, 2021
The courtroom shenanigans have absolutely no basis in reality, and while they're occasionally entertaining, they're mostly as overdone and tasteless as the action in Clark's other films. Go to Full Review Patrick Goldstein Los Angeles Times Sep 25, 2021
It's such an embarrassingly lame comedy that you could easily imagine some mischievous attorney filing suit -- for defamation of the entire profession. Go to Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com Apr 3, 2023

Jennifer W @RT19226270 Nov 30, 2025 I’m not sure why this got such bad reviews. I really enjoyed it. Who doesn’t love the brat pack movies. It’s entertaining and the bad guy loses in the end. See more Erin M @Mightymotes Nov 8, 2025 Really fun and interesting courtroom movie with great actors! It’s a comedy and you’ll enjoy it a lot more,if you keep that in mind. See more Shannon G @RT11774820 May 17, 2025 Love this movie. Comedy, great acting, drama. It has everything you want in a fun movies. Starts off funny and then improves with a dark drama. John Hurt was amazing as a client up for murder. Judd crushed it as his attorney. David Allen Grier who is always funny has a small part but is great. Elizabeth Perkins did a great job as well. Take the time to check it out. See more G. W @RT56015321 Jun 15, 2023 Very unpredictable and very good!
