Todd B Sep 18, 2024 This was a good movie with Scarlett. Thanks for the live action version of this movie. A good add, and take on the role. See more Matt J @RT95392035 6 hrs ago I just recently watched the original, and this one back to back. There's no denying the original, we'll just get that out of the way... I really enjoyed this film, and thought Johansson was great as Major. It's best not to compare the two under a microscope, as the anime has lots unusual nuances that only work in anime, and don't translate well to live action film. Given the source material, I thought it was effective at telling a similar story, even for new audiences. See more Frans B @FransB Oct 8, 2026 Brilliant, reminiscent of LUCY, but on steroids 😜, lots of them. Cerebral, very fast paced, intelligent premise, lots of cutting edge technology as far as GCI and special effects go. Wētā Workshop did what only they are able to accomplish as far as practical improvising and design goes. Scarlett Johansson absolutely shines in character, whole cast very convincing in character. Not so far fetched IMO, the time is on our doorstep that AI and tech will trump and surpass humans, scary hey? And everybody is on that ride to nowhere. Lots of food for thought here. Entertaining and captivating. Worth a couple of viewings, you'll see additional detail every time, guaranteed. See more Len P @RT75205440 Oct 5, 2026 A bit too grunge and dystopian for my taste. The holographics and cyberpunk were overdone. Feels well produced but I was bored and kept checking to see how long until the end. Predictable plot although apparently it is a remake so maybe bot much flexibility available? See more Eddy S @Sad_Eddy Sep 30, 2026 The cast, crew, and especially the VFX talent were good. Even Mr. Sanders did perfectly competent work. This film suffers from the loss of its own ghost in the move to live action. It's good that they tried to stick with the source material so much as they could instead of writing a new story or trying to imbue the Major with different traits and persona, however, they were never going to measure up to the original material no matter how hard they tried. If you are not familiar with the earlier GITS work but interested in this genre, you will love this film. See more Read all reviews
