He Knows You're Alone inspires sustained, high-decibel shrieking when Mastroianni cuts loose, but it ingratiates itself in a more congenial way by being so mischievosly movie-crazy and by swift strokes of characterization and funny romatic by play.

'He Knows You're Alone' is one of the better 80s slashers out there and is bizarrely ahead of its time in many ways. It's also fun clocking all of the moments later slashers borrowed from the film.

Well-written and acted, this slasher is surprisingly decent as its characters are likable and its storyline is intriguing. It’s not gory at all though, since most of the kills happen off screen, and the killer doesn’t wear a mask so it’s kinda hard to believe that he evaded capture for 3 years before setting his sights on the lead girl. Otherwise, I enjoyed it.
