Critics Consensus

Viewers immune to its star's charms won't find it much of a treat, but Hubie Halloween is sweet enough to satisfy fans of Adam Sandler's antics.

Sandler has done some brilliant dramatic work over the years, so it's a pity he persists in churning out such garbage-level comedy. But if Netflix keeps chucking millions at you, what are you going to do?

Sandler surely knew this mildly offensive, juvenile celebration of cheap scares, slapstick gags and bodily function "jokes" was sure to land near the bottom of the large pile of terrible movies starring [himself].

More unexpectedly, it's generally bearable - a light, sweet and nostalgic comedy that is pleasantly devoid of high stakes.

It's not the worst film he’s made. It’s no Jack and Jill. It’s not going down that road, but it’s also a pretty charming film when it comes down to it.

Sandler attempts to deliver a terrible performance in Hubie Halloween, but it still results in one pretty decent. The protagonist has some of the best advice from his mother, which is that we need to stand up against danger because “we all get scared.”

There's not enough space to talk about how terrible this movie is. Seriously so bad it pissed me off to watch the small amount I could stomach

It is a fun Halloween-themed movie with plenty of humor; we have watched it every year around this time.

Awful. Adam Sandler essentially recycles his character from The Waterboy, filling every nook and cranny with what are the adult equivalents of fart jokes. Tired, sad and rehashed with of course just about every old (and some newer) SNL cast member, not to mention comedies failed everyman, Kevin James, playing every character he’s always played. Good thing Adam Sandler has his own production company, because that’s the only way he and his cadre of friends will stay employed.

Who would have thought the combination of Adam Sandler and Halloween and comedy could make a great movie—- it turned out as an awesome watch and a movie that will definitely be added to my Halloween movies list. It has comedy, some scares, and the Adam Sandler vibes to it.

It’s a silly, stupid Adam Sandler Halloween movie with a star studded cast. It’s not meant to be an Oscar worthy performance. It hits the exact mark it was aiming for.
