A gloriously hand-animated existential fable that manages to be both genuinely sweet and thoroughly twisted. Go to Full Review

That's a premise both ghastly and romantic. Yet, it's one we've seen again and again-though often with a lovable dog or a clever cat instead of a severed body part. Go to Full Review

Art is rewarded by patience. I Lost My Body was the biggest surprise I got from a movie in 2019. It took me completely off-guard and made me feel stunned by the end. Beautiful animation, heart-gripping music. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

See more Bruno S @SquaredCloth602 May 22, 2026 In medias res, the open ending, the foreshadowing — every detail reflects technical mastery. Emotional yet restrained at the same time. See more Aluna U @RT14704568 Sep 29, 2025 I Lost My Body is a critically acclaimed animated film adapted from Happy Hand by Guillaume Laurant, earning numerous awards including an Oscar nomination and the Nespresso Grand Prize at Cannes. Although animated, it is not suitable for children due to its mature themes and graphic scenes, instead offering a deep, poetic exploration of loss and longing through the surreal journey of a severed hand seeking its owner. With stunning animation, rich symbolism, and dual narratives from both the hand and Naufel, the film presents a complex yet emotionally resonant story, despite a few unanswered plot elements. Through flashbacks, we experience the time before the hand was severed. It mixes action/adventure elements with romance, grief-solving, and character studies. It mostly works, but the pacing is occasionally a bit distracting, and the story doesn't tell much more than the process of letting go and growing up, or even a bit of adulting. But when all of this is presented in such a quirky yet insightful package as this, you can't go wrong with a curiosity-based watch. See more Read all reviews
