Critics Consensus

A documentary on the film that brought smut mainstream, Inside Deep Throat is gaining praise as an entertaining look at a pop culture milestone. However, some critics say the film could have gone a little deeper into the people involved.

A sharp documentary that has comedy, tragedy and, yes, a glimpse of Linda Lovelace's party trick.

Bailey and Barbato can only scratch the Boogie Nights-influenced surface, but they cover the ABCs of pornography with undeniable zip.

Directors Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) unearth plenty of archival material and shoot yards of new interviews to add some perspective to the saga of Deep Throat.

I watched Deep Throat right before watching this docu. If you watch this first, you won't like the real thing. I didn't even like the real thing to begin with. It was terrible. If you're not gonna watch Deep Throat then there's no real reason to watch this docu.

Not too in-depth and really doesn't talk about how the film was actually made nor any of the film's details, just the politics, etc. which becomes repetitive.

Depressing and engrossing documentary about the phenomenally successful and controversial "adult" film.

This is my favorite documentary ever. The story behind Deep Throat is utterly fascinating. It truly is mind blowing that Deep could possibly be the most profitable movies ever made and the makers have no way to know because of its shady associations over the years. If you are a documentary lover, porn lover, weird Hollywood story lover this is for you.
