Matt, a struggling executive, finds his world turned upside down when his estranged father's nurse shows up unexpectedly in his office. Matt's father, a famed bad-boy photojournalist, is facing terminal cancer and his dying wish is for Matt to join him on a road trip from New York to Kansas to process his last rolls of Kodachrome film before the sole remaining lab closes and those captured moments are gone forever.

Kodachrome is a story we’ve seen in some form or another plenty of times. Maybe these themes keep showing up for a reason. Maybe that’s okay. Maybe it can serve as a reminder to not wait until your dad is dying to say what you need to say.

The film feels personal + the filmmaker's passion for the subject matter is palpable. Unfortunately the sentimental melodrama and predictability dampen it from being truly great. Still, it's well worth a look for Ed Harris' performance.

I don’t love this movie but I don’t dislike it either. I wanted more considering this cast being known for great performances. I think that’s where the writing comes in. There wasn’t any climaxes in my opinion but I still enjoyed it and so will most people.

Kodachrome tries to touch with an emotional father-son story and the theme of memory, but misses its target. The movie drags with an aimless narrative style and quickly loses tension. Despite a solid performance from Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis, there is a lack of real depth and development. The plot often seems inconsequential and offers little to captivate the viewer or make them think. Overall, Kodachrome remains a boring, uninspiring film that fails to exploit the potential of its subject matter.

These days i rarely make it through a movie on Netflix because i either lose interest, or the movie is just bad, or takes a weird turn. Kodachrome held my interest and was very enjoyable. Harris, Sudeikis, and Olson all did an excellent job in this story of a fractured relationship between dad and son. And Olsen was really good as the caregiver, while also adding just the right amount of sexual tension. I think most people will find this worth watching.

An underrated film that despite the over used plot of family forgiveness, has a ton of heart. As a photographer its a backdrop that I loved.

C. The movie was very predictable (his romance with the nurse i predicted within the first minute she appears) too many clichés, but the last scene on the father's death was so well done it made it worthwhile to watch till the end.

It's a cliche movie. Old guy takes a trip with and estranged son or daughter. Bad feelings melt away as the miles click by for whatever reason. Heart warming reconcilation in the end with the offspring coming to some life changing realization. And really the ending just getting the film in on time, the death and the content of the photo's the son sees. Come on man, it's insulting it's so conveniently sappy. Maybe the acting puts it over average but I don't get how a formula plot can be above average.
