Craig R @GoldClassatHome Feb 15 I had hopes, they weren't high, mid would have been enough, but alas I was disappointed. Mickey Roarke mispronouncing Caligula inside the first 5 minutes and his obvious lack of knowledge only highlights his mis-casting in this role. The fight scenes were tepid at best and acting college standard. The ladies were beautiful, that's about all I have positive to say. Vladimir Kulich was under-utilized and deserved better but as always he was great, should be more roles for him. See more David Z 07/12/2023 THe movie did have some good parts, mainly the scenery. The acting for the most part was not a stellar performance, Visually most of the characters were believable, except for the transvestite Roman general. Bai lings acting was good. His friends get killed, Mickey Rourke in an eye patch, lip filler and french tips is gleefully talking to a bust of Nero, bragging about not sending help. Like a sad knock off of Marlon Brando in Apocolypse Now. And he runs and falls. See more 05/16/2021 If you want to watch a guy climb a rock wall and stumble through the desert interspersed with watching another guy talk to a statue then this movie is for you See more 07/01/2020 i hate professional critics, most have which rate their movies like they are stuck between "TECHNICAL ALLEY' and BACK IN THE GOLDEN DAYS OF CINEMA". Granted at first and 2nd glance Mickey Rourke reading lines from this movie would seem like asking Rocky Balboa to read Shakespeare. However Rourke's punch drunk boxer looks and voice lend to a man who is torn between duty to the Legion and his emperor Nero. Yes, the runner runs alot, a monument to his task, encounters enemy and friend alike only to be told his run might have been for nothing. Bai Ling has a small part, but then i have been in love with Bai ling since the first time i saw her in THE CROW in 1994 Is it an outstanding movie, NO. Is it a great movie, too some. But i think it is a credible piece of work and deserves to be seen and judged by others of a more "UNINFORMED" audience. See more 06/28/2020 Saban, who brought us The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, wins an epic titles fight for overlapping production credits. Props to venerable thespian Mickey Rourke whose appearance eccentricities fall within the span of Roman opulence. Not his fault that the foley crew missed the clang of his dropped plastic helmet. I hung in through the shakey cam in the actual scene one, just past Mickey's soliloquy. From there on out I was whelmed in the cross countries trek, one uggs step after uggs step. The cinematography was enjoyable if not confusing on the granite ascents, including a capture of our protagonist hanging by his pinkie. See more Read all reviews
