The meticulous character designs for Muom and his minions are marvellously grotesque, and the combat scenes are thrilling to behold. But the plot feels painfully thin.

A stellar finale to the Takashi Koike LUPIN THE IIIRD series! Watched all three showings, would watch again if still on the big screen. Cant wait for the Blu-ray and digital release!

Yes, I am now THAT guy. I am the one who has seen every Lupin the Third movie. I am all for different adaptations of the thief. He has been around for over 50 years; some mix up is good for a franchise. And in theory, Takeshi Koike's idea of making a more serialized storyline of films is exciting. After 4 films on each of Lupin's crew this one was seen as the culmination of the big story arc. Sidenote, if you have seen the previous 4 films, you can skip the first 8 minutes of the movie. That combined with how the movie will show flashbacks to what has already happened this movie is about 12% recycled footage. Unfortunately, what comes together here is underwhelming. The villain and his gimmick of regenerating, make battles with him feel like a waste of time and very repetitive. I'll give credit that the way they work around it is clever. But the ending makes this feel less like a culmination of 5 movies of buildup, but more like yet another unresolved cliffhanger.
