Soon, he finds himself involved in more than he had hoped for. There is something tender and human about the story, while at the same time the film carries a thick neo-noir atmosphere; from the very beginning, you sense that something may, and likely will, go wrong. Bob Hoskins is virtually in every scene, yet surprisingly this never feels indulgent. The film is mostly centered on his character as he gets drawn into the lives of others. And yet, very little — even about his own character — is ever fully explained. See more bob c @RT46426964 Jan 6, 2026 OK Bob Hoskins playing, well, himself in a very tacky, seedy and venal environment. Hasn’t aged well for me. See more Ewan M @RT00268942 Dec 13, 2025 Watched it when it came out and loved it, watched again in 2025 and I loved it again, great acting from Bob and Cathy and the rest of cast in a UK that has unfortunately changed so much. See more Nathan Y. @NathanYatesDouglass Nov 18, 2025 Unexpected, strange, tense, and touching. Bob Hoskins is brilliant in this tough, nuanced gangster movie. See more Read all reviews
