The despair reaches out and seizes you. This movie may help anyone going through trauma to not give up. At times I felt so bad, I wanted to stop watching but like the main character, Jenna, I felt compelled to keep fighting through the relatable pain. A very well done, real story. Director Deborah Richards masterfully showed the grittiness and desperation of homelessness via interesting shot composition and camera angles throughout the entire film, resulting in haunting and cinematic images. “Move Me No Mountain” is an unflinching and original character study about dealing with grief, and the toll it can take on your soul. A mother wrestles with the guilt over her daughter's death, and decends into a downward spiral in modern day Las Vegas. Cat Lellie shined as the lead character Jenna, and imbued her character with grit, humanity and compassion. In the back streets and under tunnels of Las Vegas, Jenna meets a colorful cast of misfits, each with their sad stories regarding how they became homeless. There was a hint of romance between handsome Nic and Jenna that was refreshing and hopeful. The movie deals with issues like empathy and kindness in a gentle yet memorable treatment. “Move No Mountain” is a powerful testament to survival and the resilience of the human spirit. The cinematography captures Nevada's sprawling landscapes and the beautiful Las Vegas Strip perfectly. The movie has a lot of strong scenes that I enjoyed watching and which were very comical. The movie is written & directed by Deborah Richards. This is a gritty and thematic movie which takes the hard look at a mom who loses her daughter and is now in Las Vegas. The movie has good dialogue and drama and scenes of friendship and camaraderie. It was also shot in a very cool way with many scenes that make you think deeply. The storyline pulls you in many directions as you're watching this movie. I thought all the lead actors all had great onscreen chemistry– they were great together. The sets are great for an indie movie. I look forward to what this director and filmmaker has coming up next! This woman, Jenna, could not catch a break at all in this film. The actress who portrayed her really did well and executed multiple emotions needed to develop this story. The film explored loneliness, depression, anxiety, guilt, regret, hopelessness, homelessness, you name it. This film was pretty dark and casting did a great job of putting this cast together. You really feel for the main character as she tries to grab on to any kind of positivity she can before it’s snatched away from her. The world just keeps stomping on her head as the film goes on. Losing a child has to be an immeasurable pain to go through. The story closed with a bittersweet ending. I have to also show love to the crew as well. The cinematography, editing, makeup, sound, color grading, all of that was pretty good I have to say. See more Cinder C @RT18056226 01/23/2025 I’ve never seen an independent movie set in Las Vegas. What we think of Las Vegas is upended in this empathetic and moving film about one woman’s journey from personal tragedy to becoming houseless. The locations are really impressive and add a lot of character to the story. The cinematography is equally impressive and brings the characters, story, and emotional arc to life. The story jumps back and forth in time which was confusing at first but then really started to work for me. Performances are decent overall and the lead actor settles into the role as the film progresses. There are some really nice moments overall. At times melancholic and other times surreal, this is a solid movie that shines a light on how some may become houseless. It’s a sad story but I’m glad there was a happy ending full of hope. The use of the sky in framing shots (with objects and people contrasted against, reflected into or mirrored by the great wide blue) lends a sense of possibility, consistency and purpose to a story that is, by its very nature, somewhat fragmented. This is serious and thoughtful filmmaking, always aware of the complexities bubbling beneath the surface of every person that we encounter.
