Critics Consensus

National Treasure is no treasure, but it's a fun ride for those who can forgive its highly improbable plot.

It is a definitely guilty pleasure, and 90 percent of the reason why can be summed up in two words: Nicolas Cage.

There might be too many inaccuracies in the plot, the mix of the past and the present is naive and at times downright silly but makes for fun viewing if you don't put your thinking caps on. The film has enough to keep you involved.

It’s never as good as the properties it apes (some of which are copied copiously and brazenly; it struggles with a unique identity), but it’s still routinely funny and entertaining.

This is such a fun movie! If you are a history buff like myself youll appreciate all the history aspects. (Wether they are completely accurate or not, you’ll need to decide and be in the know of history.) it’s fun for kids, no cussing, no bedroom scenes, lighthearted, and such a good intro into some fun history and action!

A fun, fast-paced family adventure with an entertaining treasure hunt and a creative use of history throughout the mystery. I enjoyed following the clues, and I liked that the main characters—and even the antagonist—were competent enough to make the hunt interesting. Some plot elements require a pretty generous suspension of disbelief, the outcome is unsurprisingly predictable, and the romance feels unnecessary and unconvincing. There’s also some nice character development underneath the adventure, but nothing really elevated the movie beyond being an enjoyable watch.

I feel like I was betrayed by the RT critics who scored this under 50%. It's a highly entertaining movie from start to finish and featured beautiful Diane Kruger (the real Helen of Troy) in her prime. NIcholas Cage was also at his best, and it features an all star cast.

Longe de ser o pior filme de todos os tempos, mas definitivamente tem os piores vestiários.
