Craig W @CJWolfe27 1 day ago Not nearly as good as the original See more Benjamin W @Code70 Oct 6, 2026 I don’t think it’s AWFUL like some have claimed, but it’s pretty bad, despite the potential it had. Jackie Earle Haley is a good Freddy Krueger. I definitely prefer Robert Englund, and I don’t love the decision to blow up the emphasis of Freddy being a child predator, but I can appreciate the attempt to do something darker and scarier with the character, and I think Haley does a good job with it. But in general, I just found this to be a weak, underwhelming remake. Visually it’s very tacky (I’ve never loved the color and lighting that these mid-to-late 2000s horror remakes always seem to adopt), it’s not as scary or frightening as it wants to be, and it just doesn’t hit the same as the original. It’s worse than that 1984 film in every way, and everything it tries to do differently, it fails, like diving into Freddy’s backstory, or again, overemphasizing his predatory nature. Again, it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever seen. But it fails as a remake, and isn’t scary or interesting. See more Teddy B @RT90521672 Oct 6, 2026 Pack it up, Freddy. For every single 'Nightmare' film I could always rely on their creativity, energy and unique direction (nevermind the strength of their plots or logic) that made them more of an event than your average slasher fare. And I do mean ALL of them. But this 'Nightmare' represents the antithesis of not only the franchise's offerings on plot, but visual distinctness. Hearing Freddy give a dry speech on the wonders of biology without a grimy, gleeful smile or a fun little jab at a victim's insides made the whole thing rather depressing after a little while... See more B P @Bradster69 Aug 31, 2026 Not Bad, but Not My Favorite See more Alex B @AlexBioni Aug 31, 2026 How's This for a Wet Dream? I don't understand the hate for this movie. I think it's awesome. I like how serious it is compared to the one liner Freddy from the original. The violence and gore are here too. Even a simple knife to the neck sounds brutal. The atmosphere is great, and Freddy playing with his knives gives me chills. I really like the cast. Jackie Earle Haley brings something new to Freddy and has a great voice for him. Kyle Gallner is always great. I liked that they show Freddy's past instead of just telling us. I also like seeing how far the kids go to stay awake. The pharmacy scene switching between Nancy's real and dream worlds is great. This Freddy feels much more disturbing than the jokester from the original. Some dialogue isn't great, and some CGI hasn't aged well. The story is predictable because we've seen it before. The final scenes were cool, but the ending is abrupt, leaves questions unanswered, and makes the final confrontation feel pointless. See more Read all reviews
