Nathan J. @NathanDirector Feb 7 Rating: 4.5/10 ⭐️ I really wanted to like this, but it felt more like a low-budget TV movie than a theatrical epic. It tries to be a blockbuster but falls flat. The Director’s Eye: The costume design isn't terrible, and Taylor James is built like a tank, fitting the physicality of Samson. As a man of faith, I appreciate the effort to bring Scripture to life. The core message remains: God uses broken, flawed people. Seeing Samson humble himself for redemption is moving. Billy Zane and Rutger Hauer bring needed weight to the screen. The Cuts: Historical errors took me out immediately—seeing corn and peppers (native to the Americas) in ancient Israel showed a lack of detail. The CGI is rough; the lion fight looked like early 2000s video game graphics. The script adds unnecessary filler and melodrama not found in the Bible, dragging the pace. Verdict: I admire the intent, but the execution is weak. Safe for church movie night if you lower expectations, but it’s a missed opportunity. Favorite Line: "My strength does not come from me. See more Arky.H G @RT45635655 Jun 23 A short and quick summary of the character who possessed tremendous strength and was betrayed by a woman. Although despite its flaws due to the budget and being a direct-to-DVD film with very inferior acting and visual effects, it fulfills its short narrative well. The best part is the villain. You come to hate him so much that you wish him the worst death. A greedy, power-hungry wretch. It's not the best adaptation, but it might invite a casual audience to learn about this story, and they'll find a better version on their own. Rating: I give it ⭐⭐⭐ 3 Stars for Entertainment. And sense it is portraying a portion of Biblical history, little can compare to the significance of this story.
