A "romantic body horror film," a genre it likely inhabits alone, but what really makes it stick out is that we meet Louise...centuries, into living her life as this different type of human...self-assured, knowing exactly what is going on with her body. If you want to watch a (boring) protagonist bear a family death, run from the law after a bar fight, tour Italy with eurotrash, find a job, go on a date… for 40 f ing minutes before a s l u. T he screws turns into a vampire. Then this is your movie. Why can I not give this lower than a 1 star?!!!!! All the film festivals that awarded this should be embarrassed. I'm still baffled by how good this movie was. The two leads are absolutely convincing, the surroundings are real and feel almost palpable and the story has much more depth than one would expect.
