Claudio C @Claudio666 Oct 26 The Warrior's Way (2010) Stylish and Surreal Adventure (12,013 – 25 Oct 2025– by Claudio Carvalho) In the Nineteenth Century, Yang (Jang Dong-gun) is an assassin from the Sad Flute’s Clan and best swordman in the world. After destroying an enemy clan, Yang needs to kill the last survivor, the baby April, but he spares and brings April with him. He is declared enemy by the Sad Flute and hunted down by several members. He leaves Asia and sails to the Far West in North America, arriving at the town of Lode, looking for his friend Smiley. However, he learns that Smiley died a couple of years ago. He befriends the local Lynne (Kate Bosworth), who was friend of Smiley, and they re-open his laundry business. He befriends also the dwarf Eight-Ball (Tony Cox), who leads the carnival people, and the drunken Ronald (Geoffrey Rush). He also learns that the outlaw Colonel (Danny Huston) killed Lynne’s family. Meanwhile, the colonel is planning another raid in Lode while his former Master (Lung Ti) is navigating to America with his clan to hunt down Yang and April. “The Warrior's Way” (2010) is a stylish and surreal adventure by Sngmoo Lee. Produced by New Zealand and South Korea, this movie is one of the best in the genre. The plot attracts the attention from the very beginning, when Yang becomes the greatest swordman in the world, destroying the entire enemy clan. The stylized cinematography is wonderful and the soundtrack with several operas is interesting. The chemistry between Yang and the baby April is amazing, and Kate Bosworth performs a nice character. Danny Houston is perfect as the villain and the characters are well developed. My vote is eight. Although it's a very different film, I found it to be very beautiful. Just appears to be a combination of a movie and a play. I'm writing this halfway through the film, and I felt the urged to give it the credit that it deserves. See more mark d 02/11/2025 Initially in back ground and become thoroughly engrossed, the mix up of western, and Eastern, why is the a big wheel in the middle of a desert, mystical supernatural, unbelievable, but the cast seemed to believe in what they were doing. A love affair that felt innocent between two beautiful people. Weird and because it is surreal didn't question the no one would do that. Yup enjoyed. See more David C 07/07/2024 I'm one of those who loved it. The cinematography reminded me of 'Bunraku', it had elements of 'Sukiyaki Django' and a little bit of 'The Good, the Bad and the Weird'. Without derailing or throwing spoliers around, many standard tropes are used. A killer wants to give up the killing life, so he goes to a place nobody knows him, but is being tracked by his old gang. Once in thh new place he falls in with a band of misfits and ends up fighting the local bad guys when his old gang catches up and we get a three sided fight. You've seen it all before but so what? It's well paced, brilliantly filmed with great set pieces. There is no messages, just good v bad and bad will loose along as you always fight for the right.
