Gail T @RT25823459 Sep 27, 2024 Started out slow, but the pace picked up and the story got more interesting. Joley Richardson was perfectly cast and the other actors supported her well. See more Jul 4, 2022 *spoilers-kinda* Nothing much really happens. I kept waiting for something to happen and it never did. They didn't really explain what happened to them all those years ago. Was he stabbed? Why? Was he robbed? Was Tina really his illegitimate child that she had told him had died out of vengeance because he fell in love with the other guy? So much unanswered. Also, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, I never get why people say he is such a great actor. I'm not sure the man showed more that one or 2 expressions on his face in the whole movie. Usually just stone straight expressionless. And his voice is a little grating without the hinky American accent. I think he is best at just strutting around and entering a room really fast in a huff. I don't know how he made a career out of that. I guess being pretty helps. As always the Redgraves gave a good performance. If you want to watch it go ahead. It's not terrible. It's just not very good either. See more Jul 30, 2020 The dialogue seemed a bit contrived in certain scenes, but overall good movie based on an old book. I only read short excerpts from the original work by Henry James, but I imagine they tried to stay true to James' words. Vanessa Redgrave and Joely Richardson were great. See more Jul 17, 2020 Facinating story with lots of undercurrents. J.RMeyers is brilliant like he was on The Tudors. See more Apr 9, 2019 I thought JRM did a wonderful job but got no credit! See more Feb 1, 2019 I thought that The Aspern Papers was a splendid movie, absolutely faithful to the author, Henry James. See more Read all reviews
