This muddled medieval borefest drags down the talents of Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, but can be commended for one thing: truth in advertising. It’s dreadful to the max. Go to Full Review

The Dreadful faintly tugs at one strand of an interesting idea in this deeply silly horror fable: the hard fact of hunger. Go to Full Review

Turner and Harrington’s post-“Game of Thrones” reunion finds them playing lovers and the two work well together, but this is Harden’s scene-chewing film. Go to Full Review

Although The Dreadful doesn’t have the staying power of the fantasy it so clearly admires and draws upon, it’s a well-paced experience with majestic pastoral and bloody visuals that may enchant if seen on the big screen. Go to Full Review

The reunion of Game of Thrones favorites Kit Harington and Sophie Turner for Kermani's dour horror-romance is noteworthy—alas, The Dreadful is not. Go to Full Review

Deeply mired in Gothic imagery and full of blood and religious guilt, The Dreadful is a thematically rich film that just can't seem to stick its landing in the third act. Go to Full Review

Nastia S 7h A wonderful reunion of Sophie Turner and Kit Harington on screen. Visually a beautiful film, also great costumes and sets, good cinematography. Marcia Gay Harden, Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are so wonderful. There is so much chemistry between Sophie and Kit, their characters are so cute, so romantic, so hot. I liked the plot, there were nuances, but it didn't spoil the overall impression. See more Ken B @MrBelmont 8h I think this movie had more producers & executive producers than cast & crew! WOW, what a list! Anyway, performances were good and raw (albeit rather "stagy" more like a dramatic play), but it was boring. That said, I can appreciate the attention to detail and the great performances. I know this is a passion project that will find its audience. See more Michael Y 1d Marcia Harden was really good in this. Unlike anything I’ve seen before. Very interesting movie. See more Donut Dough 1d I went in with almost zero expectations especially looking at the “Dreadful” poster for this film. I left a little bit suprised. This reminded me of something you would have rented at Blockbuster. Low budget but good acting and an “Onibaba” like story. I’d recommend this over this weekends “Psycho Killer” See more Stephen C @bob25009 1d Success in 1 hour and 34 minutes. See more M Q @MQ2727 1d An amazing, atmospheric rendition of the Japanese classic Onibaba. It’s a bold reimagining that honors the original while standing on its own. Seeing Kit and Sophie choose a gritty, 18-day indie shoot over a blockbuster paycheck shows their true dedication to the craft. A must-watch for those who actually appreciate cinema history over spectacle. See more Read all reviews
