The Girlfriend seems like a direct response to the widespread misogyny of Indian cinema, but it feels disingenuous because it stars someone who has defended that very misogyny.

The Girlfriend is prone to melodrama that is saved by Rashmika Mandanna's memorable performance. Despite an over-the-top showdown scene, the movie remains grounded by the serious issue of being trapped in a toxic relationship.

It is fascinating to note that The Girlfriend represents an India that is predominant as part of our discourses today, yet whose idea of love and ambition is skimmed over at best.

Need movies like this to hold a mirror to the society and will make people think. It will make you uncomfortable, but that's the point.

Entire movie stood only with elevated scenes when Bhoomi shouted & spoken on the stage. But, she will be a cheater in his opinion. One should not Leave without telling WHY, If she really have guts to get blame & Shout if anybody scolds like she did, then why didn't she talked to him about her fear? But, we as Humans have values, so always speaking up is the thing which solves lot of problems.

It’s good story. First half felt a bit slow picks up later on and ending is good. It highlights how the upbringing and parents relationship can have bearing on our adult personality and behavior.
