While it retains the essence of Disney in its story and voice performances, particularly Demi Moore reprising Esmeralda, the film suffers from low-budget animation that often looks rough and unpolished. Quasimodo’s character lacks visual appeal, and the supporting characters fail to feel dynamic or engaging. The story itself is overly simplistic, revolving around a predictable love declaration during a festival, with questionable choices like the depiction of Esmeralda’s son. The new love interest for Quasimodo feels weak and underdeveloped, and the romance progression is awkward. While the villain plot and circus setting add some excitement, it cannot salvage the film. Ultimately, it’s a cute but forgettable effort that lacks the depth, animation quality, and character strength of the original, making it hard to recommend.
