What sets Grodner's story apart is its intense focus on specific people in the scene who are emblematic of a way of living and surviving in Los Angeles that's slowly dying. Go to Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Jun 21, 2018
The movie's only intermittently successful at blurring the lines between art and life. But it's a sincerely felt experiment, and it has spirit. Go to Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed Apr 17, 2020

The film as a whole manages to create an atmosphere of despondency and depression that permeates everything and even the viewer after a while. As a sad film, it reaches its goal of transferring the feeling to the audience. Go to Full Review Morgan Rojas Cinemacy Aug 6, 2018
The Icarus Line Must Die is not out to win any Academy Awards or achievements in filmmaking, but what we do have here is a passion project from a passionate person and Joe Cardamone's creative outlet is definitely for our enjoyment. Go to Full Review Tom Bedford Film Inquiry Jul 11, 2018
It's a compelling mood piece that thrives on the city, the people and their music, without glorifying or downplaying the troubles of any of them. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Jun 6, 2020 This movie tried so hard to be something but it was such nonsense. All the characters were meaningless. It was just a bunch of "cool guy" people in a black and white movie full of wannabe artsy scenes. You get nothing about the actual music scene nor it's characters inner struggles. It felt like the band icarus line is just a low budge imitation of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. The lead even resembles nick cave. I even felt like this was trying to be 20,000 days on earth. I thought it'd be interesting to see how the LA music scene would be represented, but that was a complete let down as well. All acts sounded the same and didn't enhance the film at all. Technically the film looked great but the audio was so poor you couldn't hear any dialogue but then all the music scenes blared through like a reward shoved down your throat. I tried to sit through the whole movie but I couldn't. This is obviously a "cool guy" film by the looks of it's ratings on this site. Most likely all the people who were involved with the film.
