In the new action-comedy THE KILLER'S GAME, when top hitman Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands -- by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it's too late.

While it can be commended for refreshingly casting the reliable Dave Bautista in a romantic role, this otherwise tepid hitman comedy doesn't make many inventive moves on the board.

What really makes the movie is Bautista, who projects a comforting sweetness even while he’s snapping some guy’s leg in half, and an intimidating brutality even when he’s struggling to flirt by text.

Don’t come into The Killer’s Game expecting some deep, heartfelt romantic action comedy about of hitman. It’s all about the insanely over the top spectacle and another engaging lead performance from Bautista.

For a guy who reportedly doesn't want to be The Rock, Bautista does a pretty bad impersonation of leading a Rock-type vehicle here. It's unintentionally funny. Keep searching for something deeper, Dave. You're better off there.

It's not exactly the most original idea for a movie, but this action comedy runs with it, keeping things light and speedy, with Bautista holding up his end as a tough, funny, romantic lead.

Enjoyable mindless fun. I see the criticisms of the fake CGI blood, but overall it was a good movie. If you liked the Arnold Schwarzeneggar film Killing Gunther, then I think Killers Game suits your taste in action movies.

We loved it! Action was great, gory, surprise after surprise. Similar to Tarantinos movies which are our favorite. Dave Bautista is another of our favorite actors and paired with Mantis from the Guardians of the Galaxy was special. A different side of the actress Pom was refreshing, though her softer side as Mantis is adorable. An enjoyable treat for a hot afternoon.
