Critics Consensus

The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot just about lives up to the wild promise of its title, due in no small part to Sam Elliott's world-weary work in the title role.

It is far more gripping as an understated character study than it is as a wild B-movie.

It's a mix that shouldn't work, but thanks to Elliott's rugged sincerity it somehow does.

The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot is a strange but enjoyable mishmash of genres and ideas held together by the gravitas and class of Sam Elliott.

Veteran actor Sam Elliot gives a strong performance as Calvin Barr, a man haunted by his past as an assassin. The end of the film is puzzling, but we do get a good sense of who Calvin is. He reminds me of one that Elliot played in the "The Hero" (2017).

“The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot” screams low-budget pulp. Who knew it was actually a meditative character study full of deep feeling and pathos.

This movie is an absolute JOKE! The fact it actually takes itself serious as well is an even bigger JOKE! It was boring, the story was stupid, the acting sucked, and the depiction of Bigfoot was GROSS! Throughout this whole movie there were only 2 or 3 compelling scenes and you could still not even take those scenes seriously because the rest of the movie is just UTTER GARBAGE! If it had not been so stupid and not taken itself seriously and actually been made as a joke instead of becoming the butt of the joke, it might have actually been entertaining in that world. Seriously, this movie should have been a comedy. 3/10

God damn this movie sucked, so boring and the amount of flashbacks is ridiculous.

Plot is crazy bonkers, but Elliot, sad sacking his way through this, for some reason makes me want to keep watching. The movie it trying to make a point somewhere about loss and sacrifice and priorities, but it is way too jumbled, especially with all the flashbacks, to stick the landing.

Kind of a random plot with funky twists, including Bigfoot projectile vomiting in Sam Elliott’s mouth - nasty!
