Michael M. @michaelmjordan15 4h The orphans is an action/adventure film that follows 3 people, 2 ex-friends who are both orphans, and they’re childhood friend/lovers daughter who want to avenge their mothers death. The film offers some great aspects like its writing that feels connected, smart, and fun. Its direction is one of the greatest aspects of the film with its camera angles and shots and its epic camera work during all the fight scenes that are great action! The score is another key contributing factor of what makes this movie good, it’s powerful, tense, and loose. Some things that I also enjoyed was the whiskey solved all your problems dynamic near the middle chunk of the movie. The humor was also great with the bickering buddy cop dynamic. The greatest scenes of the whole movie were all the silent long take action pact scenes. I liked they left the main plot point ambiguous in the end too. Some things I didn’t like was the unanswered question I had of how did the daughter learn her sneaking and gun skills? I also didn’t like how the movies antagonists felt rushed with their arcs, but other than those few criticisms and positive feedbacks I believe audiences will find the orphans a good action packed, heartwarming, and funny film. 7/10 See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 1d The Orphans is a foreign action adventure that follows a group of orphaned adults and children navigating life together, but despite its promising premise, it feels disconnected. The film delivers steady action and competent set pieces, yet the emotional core never fully aligns with the story it attempts to tell. Much of it feels overly planned and safe, lacking the spontaneity or bold risks that could have elevated it. While the director stages the action effectively, the narrative struggles to create authentic tension or meaningful character development. Ultimately, it’s watchable but forgettable, offering surface-level entertainment without leaving a lasting impression or strong desire to revisit it again. The pacing drags in places, and key emotional moments fail to resonate, making it difficult to truly invest in the characters or their journey. Even with its polished visuals, it never fully captures the heart needed to make it memorable. See more Read all reviews
