Confronted with a series of racially charged incidents, a young black man must overcome rage, alienation, and hopelessness in order to find his own humanity. The young black man, simply identified as "Man," must resolve the personal meaning of his blackness when his white boss orders him to commit fraud to benefit the corporation. Struggling with an overwhelming sense of shame for going through with the illegal demand, Man seeks consolation by discussing his unease with a black former friend and his white fiancé. Those conversations lead only to further confusion and frustrations... Following on the footstep of the LA Rebellion filmmakers, Skinner Myers tells a very personal and intimate Black story in a radically non-traditional cinematic style as a means to express freely his feelings as a Black man in America. Myers’ film doesn’t shy away from addressing challenging subject matter, chipping away at the ridiculous claim that “race” doesn’t matter in contemporary America. Go to Full Review Carlos Aguilar Los Angeles Times Dec 3, 2021
Myers' brisk film is more monologue than movie, but undeniably essential in jolting everyone out of the collective complacency induced by the false perception of progress for all in this country. Go to Full Review Mark Hanson Slant Magazine Nov 30, 2021

Though often abstract in its imagery, the film's blistering commentary remains firmly rooted in our present reality. Go to Full Review Zachary Goldkind In Review Online Feb 4, 2023
It all plays out with a fumbling intentionality, where the disunity of the aesthetic whole very perfectly reflects the schism of our character and, assuming that our protagonist acts as an analogue to its performer, our director himself. Go to Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills Feb 4, 2022
Less a conventional narrative than a series of point-illustrating arguments and setpieces, it’s like an indie Falling Down with a sensibility that modernizes the self-examining monologue of Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man. Go to Full Review Michael J. Casey Michael J. Cinema Nov 6, 2021
4/5
Myers suggests we are all corruptible by a white man in a high tower but ends with a slightly more human slant and a reminder that all actions come with consequences. Go to Full Review Read all reviews
