He doesn't know it, but everything in Truman Burbank's (Jim Carrey) life is part of a massive TV set. Executive producer Christof (Ed Harris) orchestrates "The Truman Show," a live broadcast of Truman's every move captured by hidden cameras. Christof tries to control Truman's mind, even removing his true love, Sylvia (Natascha McElhone), from the show and replacing her with Meryl (Laura Linney). As Truman gradually discovers the truth, however, he must decide whether to act on it.

One of my favorite movies. The fun, kinda creepy, and weird core in this movie fits perfectly into the scene. Jim Carrey is my favorite actor of all time. And in case I don’t see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night.

What would happen if we lived in a world controlled by a TV show? That is the premise of The Truman Show. The film makes us reflect on freedom, television media, and reality TV itself, while still being an enjoyable watch. Jim Carrey's performance as Truman Burbank is a joy to watch. It's this that makes us, as real-life viewers, realize why we're not so different from what the film portrays. A profound theme, an entertaining watch, and an unconventional premise: that is The Truman Show. It's a film that will keep making us ask whether a beautiful, perfect world is better than a chaotic but real one.

Synopsis
