This tribute to the beloved supernatural TV show has four episodes. In the first, racist Bill Connor (Vic Morrow) is transformed into a Jew in World War II. Next, Mr. Bloom (Scatman Crothers) comes to a retirement home to teach the residents that they are only as young as they feel. In the third, teacher Helen Foley (Kathleen Quinlan) meets Anthony (Jeremy Licht), a boy who is not what he seems. Critics Consensus

Twilight Zone: The Movie suffers from the typical anthology-film highs and lows -- thankfully, the former outnumber the latter.

Of the film's four episodes, only one -- the last -- is truly top-notch. Go to Full Review

Twilight Zone: The Movie fails because it tries to blend the spirit of the TV show into a medium whose spirit has evolved away from subtle storytelling. The result is like trying to merge a Wagner opera with a Debussy sonata. Go to Full Review

The problem is not only that the film is divided into four short stories but that each director only gives us a 25% effort. Go to Full Review

It was an intriguing idea to try and transplant the beloved show onto the big screen, but ultimately better decisions needed to be made as to what stories to include, resulting in a curious anthology film that's only half recommendable. Go to Full Review

It was Australian George Miller, responsible for cult hit Mad Max and its sequels, who produced the one truly scary section of this feature-length stab at Rod Serling's classic TV series. Go to Full Review

An entertaining fright work, slickly made, amusing and scary by turns. Go to Full Review

Teddy B @RT90521672 14 hrs ago Half-bad, half-amazing, who knew an injection of style over content, niche over mainstream directors made for a better experience concerning the 'Twilight Zone', when conscious and layered writing, besides wonderful cinematography and acting, has always been its greatest strength? Landis' is easily the worst, even removed from its terrible context: a complete deflation of an original premise that would have been put to better work in the '60s. Spielberg's section tanks: a strangely flat and poorly-shot blunder from one of Hollywood's greatest and most consistent directors. Dante's is easily the BEST: a, at the time, little-known director unleashing the full extent of his high-budget madness into something truly inspired and one-of-a-kind. Miller's burns with an angry, Mad-Max energy that surprisingly gels within the minimalism of its source material, ending the film on at least a high-note. Dante and Miller almost make up for the bad taste of their predecessors---if only... The second story, about some old people in an old peoples home, is sickeningly saccharine and feels utterly at odds with the tone and vibe of the original TV show. The other two segments are better but I’d prefer to just re-watch the original TV show episodes. This film is entirely lacking in the uncanny mystery of the original TV show. An abomination. See more Read all reviews
