See more Joanna T @aerialgirly92 1d I typically don't like romance but this is set in SF & it was heartfelt, made me cry. Skipped thru cheesy parts but still. Jill is an aspiring chef who moved to SF from Texas. She hates her job. Her sis Isabelle has cancer & dies. They were close. She continues leaving voicemails for Isa but Wes has a new work phone w/ Isa's phone #. He is a sad, low energy, average guy. He listens to the msgs & becomes interested in Jill. Maybe bc she has a vibrant (obnoxious?) personality while he has none. He flies to SF, turns up where he knows she is & they start going out. He doesn't have the guts to tell her the truth so Jill finds out about his phone herself. She is mad. They take a break. Jill quits her job to open a food truck. Wes leaves her a voicemail & they reunite at new year's. They get over their fight. I liked the ending where Wes reaffirms that Jill doesn't need a man but he definitely needs her. That is all men nowadays with women. Its unfortunate because the premise had lots of potential for a heart filled story. Unfortunately the writting was poor. The creators cared more about pushing feminism than they cared about writing good characters. And they trash on modern. Dating while promoting all of the very things that are wrong with modern dating. And it was overly raunchy and sexualized for no benefit to the storyline.
