We're really almost slaves to drugs", words that will later take on their true value: "Ageing or smack, which to choose?") with a further katabasis, that of a married couple who start the day toasting to life on their terrace in the morning light. They align with the statistical norm of not suffering agony simultaneously: she falls ill worse than him, and care becomes unidirectional. This time, the Argentine director seems to box himself into a dementia movie, dissolving the universality of the message, at least until she throws her husband's book notes down the toilet. "I don't throw away my past": a desire that's hit a dead end. Her Alzheimer's has even more devastating effects for the husband's heart disease, and the circle closes, the screen's dividing line becomes continuous interaction: from agony, only more agony can be born. Com tudo isso, eu até achei interessante e eu recomendo esse filme pelo jeito que ele foi mostrado. See more dave d @RT34924333 04/01/2023 A gripping and difficult watch which will leave the engaged viewer contemplating death, relationships, and much more. It is in a split screen format which works most of the time, but also can be a distraction when the viewer is watching the same scene from two angles. There is so much that is relatable with Gaspar Noé's latest, but it is the actors that make this work. Dario Argento and Françoise Lebrun play a married couple both in failing health and they both use nuance and subtlety to make a point. The story is simple, yet perfectly executed. This film hit me pretty hard with the past three years of seeing the decline and death of loved ones and depicted how surreal these experiences are. A dream within a dream.
