Blake- N @PBSAniDom Jun 1, 2026 The Year of Getting to Know Us was a very disappointing film experience for me. I went in expecting a thoughtful drama with some emotional depth, but what I got instead felt bland, uneven, and frustratingly hard to connect with. It never really found its rhythm, and I found myself waiting for it to become more engaging. The biggest issue is that the movie feels emotionally distant when it should be personal and meaningful. The material seems like it should carry more weight, but the execution makes everything feel flat. Even the moments that appear important do not leave much of an impact. By the end, it felt like a missed opportunity from start to finish. There are some ideas here that could have worked much better in a stronger film, but this one never pulled them together in a satisfying way. I’d rate it a 0/10. See more Apr 28, 2013 This movie had a few too many flashbacks for my taste, and it was pretty uneventful, but I've always been a big fan of Jimmy Fallon, so I'm glad I saw this movie because it proved his dramatic acting ability. See more Feb 10, 2012 I thought this was a very convincing story. Patrick Sisam did a wonderful job a with bringing out the child's perspective to the family life. The child's different memories to what happens in the family and what that perspective does to the adult child's choices in life. I'm not saying it's a perfect film but it is worth a watch. www.what-to-watch.com See more Read all reviews
